Nvidia and Boeing

Marketing and Business in the World

 Introduction

Nvidia is one of the largest GPU and computer hardware companies in the world and as well as the biggest company on the planet when looking at their stock price. Boeing is one of the largest commercial and private airplane manufacturers.

All eyes on Nvidia

All eyes were on Nvidia these past few days as their quarterly earnings calls were coming up for the last quarter of 2023. Nvidia has recently cemented itself as the world leader in computer graphics processors and has recently gone all-in on artificial intelligence. With the recent boom in the artificial intelligence industry, Nvidia has become those selling the shovel during the gold rush. Everyone needs their products to develop and test innovations related to artificial intelligence which has shot them to the top of the S&P500. With the amazing success of Nvidia, there are lots of people wondering if they will continue the upwards trend with their fourth quarter earnings calls.

Going into this week Nvidia had an expected revenue of 20.55 billion which many were watching to see if they either beat or missed their expected earnings. As reported on 2/21/2024, Nvidia smashed their earnings calls with a 7.55% increase on revenue to 22.10 billion. This was a very positive marker for the rest of the market with after-hours earnings increasing by roughly 11%.

Boeing mixing it up

There have been a couple developments following up on Boeing's recent situation. Following their door debacle, there have been reports that over 50 more Boeing 737s have mechanical errors. It would seem there was a significant downfall in the quality control in recent years. The firm is still facing pressure so they made some top-end management changes and the head of the 737 program is ousted and they will be bringing someone new who will ideally focus more on safety and quality control.

Conclusion

Overall, everyone was biting their nails over Nvidia's earnings call that they crushed. This caused a rally in the market which was felt by most everyone except companies like Boeing who are still reeling from the terrible negative press of their incident where a door blew off their 737 Max plane.
